Our Aaron Grimmer predicted this past Monday that FIFA 18’s Team of the Week 41 in Utlimate Team might go down in history — for all the wrong reasons.
While it’s debatable whether or not it quite goes that far in its sheer quotient of leaving much to be desired, it’s certainly no world beater. Other than German goalkeeper Timo Horn, who’s stuck in the German top division on a technicality in-game but plays in the 2 Bundesliga now in real life, there’s virtually no one of consequence. A few MLS, Japanese Meiji Yasuda J1 League, and Korean K LEAGUE Classic names sneak their way in, but it’s a venerable collection of “Who’s that again?”s otherwise.
The silver lining is, of course, we’re a week away from the return of the English Premier League to TOTW. While a lot of the higher rated guys have 90-plus rated special items at this point in the game, some of the lesser names may get their best item this FIFA as a result of their accomplishments on the pitch in the league’s opening weekend. The rest of Europe’s big five domestic leagues will follow. And then all will be right again in the world of in-forms.
Roll on FIFA 19. Please.
