EA Sports are set to officially start spreading World Cup fever when a new expansion pack becomes available for gamers.

FIFA 18 fans are going to be able to indulge in World Cup fever in the coming weeks, as games giant EA Sports release a World Cup expansion pack.

As reported by Goal, instead of releasing a separate World Cup game – such as they did for the 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010 editions – EA are instead creating a free add-on update that fans can download which will feature a fully licensed World Cup tournament mode, as they did in 2014.

All 32 nations that are featuring in Russia will be available to play with, and the update will feature the latest squads, the current kits and the correct groups we’ll see in the summer.

The update will initially be available to play on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.

The download is expected to be available either later this month or in March.

A slip of the tongue from Spanish commentator Manolo Lama – who takes on Martin Tyler’s role for the Spanish version of the game – last September seemed to suggest the date.

“I have to record it for FIFA World Cup in December, I think it will be out in February or March,” he told Spanish radio station Radio COPE.

And fans are sure to be excited at the chance to simulate what promises to be a thrilling World Cup.

You’ll likely to be able to download the update as a patch on the existing game on both Playstation 4 and Xbox One, which should automatically update when you start the game.
